When it comes to consistency in marketing, we’ll be focusing on the last letter, “K”, which stands for “keep going”. In the world of online marketing, the best and most honorable thing you can do to ensure constant climbing up the ladder is to keep pushing forward. Once you’ve got your website up and made initial contacts and a quality email list, you need to simply keep going in order to ensure that you’re making your way to the top and getting the traffic and leads you know you deserve.
Consistency in marketing works just the same way! In order to maintain a certain level of constant traffic being driven to your website, you have to keep going in the content that you’re creating. Whether it be blog posts or simple social media snippets shared on Facebook, the drive and the push is necessary in order to truly make it through until the end, proving yourself as a relevant and consistent source of valuable content. Putting in the time and effort pays off in the end, we can guarantee it!
Consistency In Marketing: The Dos and Don’ts of Staying Relevant
Now that we know what to do in order to secure consistency in marketing, putting together an effective game plan on putting these motions into action becomes a little easier. By effectively honing in on things like key hashtags and key messages, you can filter your content so that it effectively aligns with the core of what you’re trying to say with the content you create.
The key to maintaining a level of consistency in marketing that isn’t deemed overbearing lies with the content that you’re making and what you’re trying to initiate with your audience when you publish said content. Maintaining a healthy amount of interaction with your audience is definitely an important aspect of making sure that you’re on their minds and that—when they see your content—they’re eager to see what you’ve got to say based on how often they’ve heard from you and their amount of interest in what you do.
Step 1: Constant Contact Is Your Friend
As stated above, having a regular connection with the people who support your business is an important part of making sure that your content is reaching people. By reaching out to your audience through a variety of mediums in which you’re reaching out to connect with them—social media, podcasts, email campaigns—you’re ensuring that you’re staying in their bubble of relevance as often as you can without fear of coming on too strong. Therefore when you publish new content, the people you stay in touch with are excited to read and hear what you have to say due to the consistency in marketing that you’ve upheld for a long period of time!
On top of that, being timely and relevant with your content is another key element in making sure that you’re staying on top of your scheduling goals. Say a biweekly blog post, for example—every other week, you’re publishing new content, and this content goes directly to your subscribers and people a part of your email list as a reminder that they’ve got a fresh message and new content to view. That’s new content going directly to everyone once every other week, and that’s why consistency is so important.
By working hard to maintain a certain amount of contact with these important people—as well as growing your list naturally through the content you’re creating—you’re a presence in their inboxes making yourself known on a consistent basis. If you ask me? That’s well worth the time and effort!
Step 2: Utilizing Social Media
We’ve heard time and time again how important social media can be when it comes to online marketing, and when it comes to consistency in marketing, it bears repeating. The amount of content and the different kinds of content that you can share on social media to prove your point and get your message across is seemingly endless. Being able to utilize a variety of these techniques is important when trying to stay relevant, as well as maintaining a certain level of consistency.
Now, this content can be—to a certain extent—anything that’s related to what you’re trying to say and how it reflects on your business or the important topic at hand. Say, for example, a video clip of a free workshop or a webinar or a tutorial. Maybe even a clip from a podcast! By splicing this content, not only do you have something to share on social media to drive traffic to your website, you also have things to share across other social media platforms (in the case of the video content, posting it to YouTube is a great option for alternative views and traffic).
Since email campaigns and video content aren’t going anywhere for a very long time, however, having other things to experiment with is also very important lest your content curation becomes stale with the same things over and over again. Consistency in marketing comes down to the value of what you’re sharing as well as how often you’re sharing it. Posts can be filled with pre-written content taken from blog posts and still hold relevance and value, so long as they’re on topic.
Though it may seem unorthodox, you can create light content to use on filler days with memes! Yes, you read that correctly—memes. With the conversation around these topics constantly being very serious, it’s nice to take the very same topic, apply it to something topical and popular across all audiences, and share it across various social media accounts. Additionally, since memes take a matter of seconds to create, it allows content to be planned and made in advance while also providing a more consistent schedule with pre-made content to use sparingly.
Step 3: Staying Organized To Maintain A Schedule
Seeing as where consistency in marketing is where most people fall short, maintaining a certain work ethic is important in bringing this part of your online marketing up. To minimize the time some people might think this task takes, it’s highly suggested that you invest in a content calendar. By utilizing this tool, you can take as little as five minutes out of your day to put together a thoughtful post. Then once the post is complete, you’re ready to share.
If you’re finding that instigating the right time for such a thing is becoming hard with a crowded schedule, you could always consider writing a post for a later date when you’re already working on content that you’d consider relevant and topical. That way, when the time comes to post said content, you’ve already got something up your sleeve and have alleviated any stress that could be on your mind!
The most important thing here, of course, is having a consistent message. And having that repository of content—whether it be a meme, video clips, quotes, blog articles—to share on a consistent basis is really important, especially through social media promotion. With this content calendar, you want to be asking yourself a few things: firstly, what content do you want to be talking about? Secondly, what content is already out there that you can be sharing? Be organized and upfront, and make sure to create these processes to be able to take 5 – 10 minutes a day to come up with something creative.
Consistency In Marketing: Plan Ahead, And You’ll Succeed
In the end, consistency in marketing comes down to the content that you’re creating and what sort of message you want to be sharing with your audience. You don’t have to have all the details together right away—what’s important is that you write and share about things you do know, not things you don’t know. Don’t be afraid to use other content that’s out there as well, and be willing to share the voices that are already speaking your message.
So long as you stay organized and make sure that you’re keeping things relevant and topical, I’m positive that you’ll find the success you’re looking for. People like authenticity, and by effectively driving traffic back to your website with content that people want to see and have a genuine interest in, you can be sure that the people visiting your website and people who are there to stay!
